Which pool robot suits your pool?

Robotic pool cleaners make life a great deal easier for pool owners. The robot cleans the pool thoroughly in a matter of hours. This saves pool owners time, effort as well as money.

Additionally, systematically cleaning the pool with a Dolphin robotic pool cleaner has a positive effect on water quality. This means that you won't need to buy as many cleaning products for the pool.

Operation of Dolphin robotic pool cleaners

All Dolphin pool cleaning robots operate in an identical manner. Firstly, the robot scans the entire swimming pool floor. Then it scrubs away all dirt, algae and bacteria, which results in crystal-clear swimming water.

Moreover, these pool cleaning robots can deal with any type of pool surface. Whether stone, mosaic, liner or concrete, none of these will pose any problems for the pool cleaning robots.

Differences between Dolphin robotic pool cleaners: clarification

The price of the robot depends on its complexity. This means higher prices for robots that can deal with swimming pools of greater lengths, have various cycle times and extra operating options.

Most of our pool cleaning robots are only suitable for swimming pools. The only exception is the Dolphin Bio Suction, which can also clean natural pools. An example of this can be seen in the video below.

The filtration system of Dolphin robotic pool cleaners

Maytronics, the manufacturer of Dolphin pool cleaning robots, invests large amounts in improving pool robots. Naturally, a great deal of attention is paid to the filtration system. Maytronics is focused on producing a perfect yet easy-to-use filtration system. This has meant that, in recent years, it has undergone major changes.

The oldest filtration system is a filter bag. All dirt is collected in the bag, with water travelling freely through it. The system works well and also catches small dirt particles, but is slightly more maintenance-intensive.

Filter bags need to be cleaned with a garden hose to ensure all dirt is washed out. When doing so, it is important that the bag is turned inside out first. Some dirt particles are hard to remove and remain in the bag, but this does not adversely affect filtration.

Maytronics then designed filter cartridges to reduce maintenance work. These are simple to install and easily rinsed. One only has to choose between filters for coarse or fine filtration. We certainly recommend a coarse filter for the first few cleaning cycles of your robotic pool cleaner.

To further improve its filtration system, Maytronics launched filter baskets in 2015. These are even simpler to install and remove for maintenance, and they are very easy to rinse. In addition, Maytronics opted to provide the Dolphin S300i Smart with a multi-layer filter basket. This combines a coarse and a fine filter, leading to optimum filtration results.

Why opt for adjustable cycle times?

Several robotic pool cleaners provide a range of cycle times to choose from. Those cycle times have been adjusted to fit certain cleaning programmes. The choice therefore is between types of cleaning programme rather than their duration.

Most models offer a choice between a full programme, a programme that excludes waterline cleaning, and a programme that cleans the pool floor alone. This allows you to focus a little extra on certain parts of the pool. Explanations of these cleaning programmes can be found in the device manuals.

Most robotic pool cleaners are operated using a remote control or a control panel. For the Dolphin S300i Smart, Maytronics went one step further. This robotic pool cleaner is the first in the world that can be operated through your smartphone.

Swivel: prevents cable twisting

The swivel is a special feature added to the pool cleaning robots to ensure that the power cable does not get tangled. For technical reasons this device has not been added to the new 2015 models: S200 and S300i Smart.

It is the greatest drawback of the new robotic pool cleaners, but it is offset by the superior filtration system (simple and effective) and their low weight. Water drains from these pool cleaning robots a lot quicker, which makes them ergonomically sound.
